The idea of an offering or reward from the Devil to the Friars of the Black Mass was always key in the development of the photoset. I think the result is interesting, the image ended up being one of the most contrived of the group. Much attention was paid to lighting the scene to create as slick a production as possible. I drew heavy inspiration from product advetisments and even crisp music video productions to create an enticing, all be it macarbe offering. Multiple setups and matrials were used, all to differing levels of success. I settled on a mixture of lubricant and dyed condensed milk to coat my setup with, red backdrop was used purely for lighting purposes, to avoid unwanted colour spills and reflections, actual backgrounds were developed in post.
